Cassie is a member of a fascinating acacia-genus of trees and shrubs from which ancient materials with modern uses originate. In the south of France, Acacia farnesiana is cultivated for the perfume industry. The flowers are well known and highly esteemed for the perfume oil they yield. The flowers are globular and golden with a scent of violet and orange blossom. The odour is both spicy and floral. Aroma therapists use it for treating depression, nervous exhaustion and stress-related conditions where its beautiful, sunny note uplifts the spirits. Cassie absolute is a popular aphrodisiac – undoubtedly due to its beautiful aroma.
Benzoin (Styrax benzoin) belongs to the Styraceae plant family. It is extracted from tender, evergreen trees of 25 feet in height, where the resin collects in small incisions made in the bark. These trees are found in the rich woodland and swamps of Sumatra and around the world in places such as Thailand and Java. The two main chemical constituents of benzoin are coniferyl cinnamate, an ester, and sumaresinolic acid. Esters are said to have powerful relaxing properties on the skin, and benzoin is commonly used to calm irritation in cracked, sore, and very dry skin conditions. Benzoin is best known for its sweet, balsamic, vanilla and ice cream-like essence. Benzoin is also used for its warming qualities, believed to stimulate blood flow and ease aching muscles.

Soaps can be very harsh cleansers and one does not always need soap to be clean. There are many things that can act as cleansers. The term “soap- free” is used by many products to imply that the product will not dry out your skin (which is typically opposite of what soap does). This is because soaps have higher pH than that of our skin which causes damage to our epidermal layer of cells. Soap-free products are usually pH balanced products i.e. they have same pH as that of our skin (which is around 5
). The term also implies that product does not contain any salt of a fatty acid (sodium laurate etc) which normally soaps contain. However it may contain any “sulphate“based surfactants like sodium laureth sulphate.

It is also considered as an excellent anti-oxidant Ocimum Sanctum : This is nothing but our very famous Tulsi. As we all know, Tulsi has been used for thousands of years in Ayurveda.
Sodii Biboras : Ayurvedic name is Suhaga…Couldn’t find much info, but the only thing I found was that suhaga is used in ayurvedic tablets which are used for regularizing menstrual cycle. Its helps in regularizing menstrual discharge. I cant figure out how it is useful in this cleanser !!!

Each of the ingredients is a gem and I gained a lot of confidence in the product. The price was Rs. 595 which was fine compared to the obnoxiously high prices of the other products I had purchased from them.

Directions for use: mix it with rosewater and wash face with it. Though, the directions on the box say that wash face with it, to me it seemed like more of a mask at first and hence I began keeping it longer on my skin, as long as 40 min! That was not a good thing to do on my part, yet the product didn’t react on my skin in a bad way. Only the good effect was lessened. Lesson learnt: follow instructions on the box .
